Pawa Festival: Art from galleries on the streets of Nairobi


Art from the galleries and theatres came to the streets of Nairobi on Sunday when PAWA 254 staged the PAWA Festival along Koinange Street.

Held under the theme, I am Kenya, the festival showcased various forms of creative works to art enthusiasts in the city.

“With this year’s theme, we hope to inspire Kenyans to be more responsible in whatever spaces they are and purpose to change what is not right in the society through music and art,” said Njeri Mwangi, the Festival Director.

The festival which showcased various forms of creative from spoken word artist, photography exhibitions, live graffiti and painting and dance break sessions.

There was also live music on stage from the likes of Shikkey, Tshoc, Mizizi Afrika among others.

“Art is a great thing for our youth as it provides employment. I’m happy that the city is this year hosting the annual art street festival, as a sign of commitment to supporting the youth in their artistic economic endeavors,” said Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko.
