Pastor Ng’ang’a on the spot over road crash that killed woman

Pastor James Maina Ng’ang’a of Neno Evangelism Centre was on Monday on the spot over a road accident that involved his car and a private vehicle in which a woman was killed.

The pastor’s Range Rover Sports car was reportedly driving on the wrong side of the Nakuru-Nairobi highway on Sunday evening when the accident occurred.

The deceased, Mercy Njeri, was in the company of her husband Martin Mbugua when their vehicle collided head-on with the Pastor’s car.

The couple was heading to meet Mr Mbugua’s father, Peter Ndung’u,  when the accident happened at around 5:30 pm at Maguo area along the busy highway.

INTOXICATED

According to eyewitness accounts, after the accident, the driver whom they claimed was Pastor Ng’ang’a, jumped out of the vehicle, locked it and got into another car that was behind and sped off.

Mr Ndungu said he was told by friends who had rescued his injured son and the deceased that Pastor Ng’ang’a was the one driving the other car.

A spot check by NTV at the Tigoni Police Station revealed that the Pastor’s Range Rover Sports car had an expired insurance.

PASTOR AT STATION

The Pastor spend the whole Monday at the police station overseeing the towing of his car but was not arrested.

Initial police records did not indicate the death of Ms Njeri, but police officers at the station later admitted to the death upon further inquiries.

The officer however insisted that the Range Rover Sports car did not belong to the Pastor, but to a motor vehicle dealer that they did not name.
