Passaris quits Nairobi governor’s race, says bid ‘unrealistic’

Businesswoman Esther Passaris has quit the Nairobi gubernatorial race and is weighing on seeking a different position.

Ms Passarison on Thursday said her candidature for the Nairobi top seat is “proving unrealistic for 2017” because of many unspecified reasons.

Her efforts to vie for the Nairobi seat on her Harambee Party ticket were thwarted after the Registrar of Parties declined to register the party.

The Adopt a Light chief executive on Thursday took to Twitter to seek advice from Nairobians on the seat to vie for and on which party.

This even as the deadline for presentation of nomination papers for some of the parties has already passed.

In the 2013 elections, Ms Passaris vied for Woman Representative position on a Kenya National Congress party ticket.

She lost to Rachel Shebesh who garnered 626,287 votes, followed by Syvia Mingala who garnered 323,332 votes. Ms Passaris got 289,292 votes.
