Parliament approves Nkaissery’s nomination
Joseph ole Nkaissery is the new Interior Secretary after Parliament approved his appointment amid acrimony.
The hitherto Kajiado Central Member of Parliament’s appointment was approved by 222 MPs with one abstention. No legislator opposed it.
Nkaissery replaces Joseph ole Lenku who was recently sacked due to runaway insecurity in the country.
The new Cabinet Secretary’s approval came during a welcome moment of tranquility in the August House on Thursday where Jubilee and Cord MPs shelved their difference over the controversial Security Laws Bill.
The new Interior Cabinet Secretary now awaits formal appointment by President Uhuru Kenyatta and subsequent swearing in.
