Parents want charges against Alliance High School ‘bullies’ dropped
A section of parents from Kiambu county want the criminal charges against six Form Four students of High Alliance School dropped.
The six were last week charged at a Kiambu court with assaulting a Form One student. They are said to have caused bodily harm to the victim.
The Kiambu County Parents Association however want the charges to be dropped with immediate effect.
The said the suspects are children and are not to blame for their actions. They instead passed the buck to the school’s administrators whom they blamed for condoning acts of bullying.
“They should not be held responsible for the failure of the Ministry of Education, school administration and parents to stop this culture,” said the association’s chairman Wachira Njuguna.
He made the remarks after meeting adminstrators at the school.
“The administration has known about the bullying for decades as it is considered an induction process for new students. They are the ones to take action to stop the tradition,” he said.
Mr Njuguna further demanded the counselling of the six students after their release before being allowed back to class.
The victims of bullying should also be counselled so as to get over the traumatic experience.
He further called for reconciliation to end enmity between the bullies and their victims.
