Outrage as Cardi B admits to past life of robbing men after drugging them

American rapper Cardi B is facing criticism on social media after admitting to a scandalous behaviour in her past.

While streaming on Instagram Live, the Grammy Award winner voiced her frustrations with people who claim she does not deserve her success.

In a 2016 Instagram Live video, the rapper admitted to drugging and robbing men she would lure to random hotels after promising them sex.

“I had to go strip. I had to go, ‘Oh yeah, you wanna f*** me? Yeah yeah yeah, let’s go back to this hotel.’ And I drugged niggas up and I robbed them. That’s what I used to do to survive. Nothing was muthaf*****’ handed to me, my nigga. Nothing!” says Cardi.

SURVIVING R KELLY

Cardi’s admission has since sparked a #SurvivingCardiB hashtag on Twitter, playing off the feeling of Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly documentary.

some Twitter users are calling for her to be “canceled” like disgraced celebrities such as Kelly and Bill Cosby.

The Bodak Yellow hit maker on Tuesday responded in a lengthy Instagram post about the video and explained she felt she had no other option at the time.

“So I’m seeing on social media that a live I did 3 years ago has popped back up,” she began. “A live where I talked about things I had to do in my past right or wrong that I felt I needed to do to make a living. I never claim to be perfect or come from a perfect world with a perfect past I always speak my truth I always own my shit.”

Cardi added that Hip Hop culture is littered with confessional lyrics about drugs and violence, something she feels is often exalted.

In her defense, she points out she never glorified anything she did in her past within the context of her music.
