Only a matter of time before fares increase
It is just a matter of time before matatu owners, pushed by the new tough transport rules, increase fares, an excuse they always use to counter anything that threatens their profit margins.
They are sensible but costly as they may involve importing equipment that is not available locally.
Unfortunately, this equipment will not come free and matatu owners will not agree to take the financial hit alone.
The county government should invest in public transport to cushion us.
