ODM will capture most city seats, says Kidero

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero is optimistic ODM will capture a majority of seats in the county in the August elections.

Dr Kidero, speaking to the Nairobi News on the phone Tuesday, said that they plan to win the governor’s and woman rep’s seats, at least 13 out of the 17 parliamentary seats, and 60 out of the 85 MCA seats.

“We will win at least 13 out of the 17 constituencies and 60 out of the 85 wards. We will leave out Starehe, Kasarani, Roy Sambu and Embakasi Central constituecies because those are Jubilee strongholds,” said Dr Kidero.

In the last elections, the Raila Odinga-led party lost out to their rivals in the Jubilee coalition in the parliamentary seats. It only won only seven parliamentary seats out of the total 17, but later added one in Mathare through a by-election.

ODM, however, trounced the Jubilee coalition in the MCA seats, winning 43 seats out of the 85 available seats.
