ODM rebels summoned to disciplinary hearing

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has formally commenced the process of disciplining dissenting party members.

In a statement circulated to newsrooms on Friday, the party through its Director of Communications Phil Etale summoned all members who have recently declared their intention of defecting to a disciplinary hearing.

“The ODM Disciplinary Committee has today summoned the defecting Governors, MPs and Senators to appear in person before the Committee at Orange House on October 7. The affected leaders should appear in person,” the statement partly read.

EXPULSION

ODM party leader Raila Odinga and his Deputies; Governors Ali Hassan Joho and Wycliffe Oparanya, have in recent times repeatedly called for the expulsion of members who have registered intent of decamping the party for the newly formed Jubilee Party, which President Uhuru Kenyatta intends to use a reelection vehicle in next year’s General Elections.

Among the ODM members who are set to face the disciplinary board to be chaired by Fred Athuok is Budalang’i legislator Ababu Namwamba – who has since launched his own party – the Labour Party of Kenya.

Others are Governors Ukuru Yatani (Marsabit), Joash Maangi (Kisii) and Salim Mvurya (Kwale), MPs Isaac Mwaura (nominated) Gideon Mung’aro (Kilifi North) and Stephen Kariuki (Mathare).
