Obama’s visit to Kenya dominates Google search trends

1. Obama in Kenya

United States President Barack Obama topped the Google searches over the month of July. President Obama had visited Kenya, the ancestral home to his late father, to open the annual Global Entrepreneurship Summit hosted in Nairobi.

2. The Beast

President Barrack Obama official vehicle, nicknamed the Beast, was the second most searched item on Google. It is considered the most armoured vehicle in the world and where President Obama can still work while on the road.

3. POTUS

It’s an abbreviation of President of the United States. Kenyans thronged Google to  know its meaning and its origin. Well, they found out.

4. Dr. Auma Obama

She became an instant celebrity the day her half-brother President Obama landed in Kenya Soil. They exchanged a hearty hug at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport when the United States president arrived. She was also the second Kenyan to ride in the Beast.

5. Pedro Rodriguez
The 28-year-old Spaniard a Barcelona FC forward rumoured to be on the verge of transferring to English Club Manchester United.

6. Mzee Ojwang
Born Benson Wanjau, the death of this legendary actor also sent Kenyans online. He passed on while undergoing treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital.

7. The Emirates Cup 
This is a pre-season football invitational competition hosted by English club Arsenal at their home ground Emirates Stadium in London.

8. Moses Kuria

The Gatundu South Member of Parliament was a trending search topic throughout the month of July owing to his on-going High Court case over the alleged incitement to violence and a dramatic walk out during an interview in a local TV station.

9. Eid Mubarak 

This is a Muslim greeting reserved for use during the celebration of the Eid festival. Kenyan Muslims joined the worldwide celebration of the festival which marks the end of Ramadan.

10. Air force One
This is the official aircraft that carries the President of America. Kenyans’ curiosity made it to top ten trending searches in the month of July.
