Nyeri woman denies chopping boyfriend’s manhood

A Nyeri woman has denied charges of assaulting her boyfriend after the couple had reportedly disagreed over money.

Ms Valentine Mugure, 25,  appeared before a Nyeri court on Wednesday where she denied charges of assaulting Mr Paul Mwangi, 26.

The prosecution applied for the accused to be remanded because the victim is in critical condition after undergoing surgery.

Resident Magistrate J. Aringo directed that the accused be remanded pending mention of the case on June 15.

Ms Mugure and Mr Mwangi are said to have been living together for months and reportedly quarreled over money which led to the incident.

Mr Mwangi, a cashier in Nyeri town, was taken to Nyeri Referral Hospital on Tuesday early morning after being stabbed in his left shoulder and his manhood cut.

The incident happened at Gamerock near Nyeri town.

Neighbours said they were awakened by the woman’s screams, but when they responded, the saw Mr Mwangi’s stab wounds.

They separated them and disarmed  the woman, before police picked  her for investigations.
