I am not aware of any talks, says Peter Kenneth

Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Peter Kenneth on Sunday said he was unaware of any talks in Jubilee to settle on a single candidate.

Mr Kenneth, who appeared on Citizen TV, said he hopes that the party will have credible nominations.

The former MP said he has not been part of any consensus-building talks but is open to any discussions.

“I haven’t met any candidate for any discussions,” said Mr Kenneth.

Pundits had construed that the postponement of the Jubilee Party primaries in Nairobi was due to ongoing talks to broker a deal between Senator Mike Sonko and Kenneth.

“I am not aware of any talks but I have been open to any method whether consensus or nominations. So we geared ourselves ready, we were ready for Friday, for tomorrow and we are ready for Wednesday we’d like Jubilee to have its best person forward,” Mr Kenneth said.

The aspirant rubbished claims that he was being offered a cabinet position to step down for Sonko.

Asked if he has ever thought of stepping down for Sonko he said, “I would like to go to the ballot so that Nairobians can decide on Wednesday and we have worked towards that.”

Mr Kenneth talked about his vision for Nairobi unveiling his plan to give Nairobians living in the slums free water so as to ease pressure on health facilities due to water borne diseases.

He also highlighted his plans to implement a commuter light rail system in three years to ease traffic congestion in the city.

Mr Kenneth also touched on the need to deal with the garbage situation in the city for a cleaner Nairobi.
