‘Nostalgia’ awaits Urban Ziki revelers

By HILARY KIMUYU November 24th, 2015 2 min read

The second edition of Urban Ziki is here and it promises to be a day to remember. The event has been dubbed ‘Nostalgia’ because the organisers want Kenyans to put down their smartphones and tablets and just as they use to do before the emergence of digital gadgets.

The event will be held on Sunday at the waterfront Jockey Club beginning 11am to to 6pm.

The day’s programme will also include interactive games for adults such as Draughts, Scrabble, Ludo and Monopoly. There will also be popular yard games such as life sized snakes & ladders, bano, kati, double dutch, darts, rollerblading, rounders, hoola hoop and many more.

The children’s corner will have bouncing castles, trampolines, kiddie train, face painting & tyre racing.

“We want folks to teach their kids how to get out and have fun instead of just sitting in the house playing video games,” said Wamboi Njora CEO of Extra Dimensions.

LOTS OF FUN

“We also want people to come out and remember how it was in the 80’s and 90’s while listening to the music of that epic era,” she added.

There will be video mixes from DJ Nijo and WDJ while the emcees of the day will be Cess Mutungi and Saulo of Capital FM.

Revelers have been advised to carry along Maasai blankets and shukas, because there will be wide open spaces for them and their families to have lots of fun,

However, no food and drinks will be allowed, but the revelers have been asked to feel free to come dressed in their favourite outfits from the 80’s and 90’s or even come along with their own boom-box.

Tickets are on sale through M-pesa till number 188083 at Sh 1,500 (Advance – adults) and Sh 2,000 (Gate – gate). There will be no entry fee for children below the age of 12 years.
