No, I haven’t withdrawn motion to impeach Kidero – MCA

Viwandani MCA Samuel Nyang’wara has disowned a letter purportedly withdrawing a motion to impeach Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero.

A letter to the clerk dated October 13, 2016 had indicated that Mr Nyangwara was backpedaling on his bid to send the governor packing.

Mr Nyang’wara, who spoke to Nairobi News on phone, said he was shocked to see the fake letter that bore an official letter head of the County Assembly.

He said that the fake letter was politically motivated to paint him in a bad image.

IN MOMBASA

Mr Nyang’wara explained that on the purported date the letter was written, he was in Mombasa together with the speaker and members of the assembly’s House Business Committee.

“I was in Mombasa from Thursday. How can I withdraw a motion that is suspended by the speaker to pave way for a legal process after a court order was issued to stop any proceedings on it?” posed Mr Nyang’wara.

He added that he would not let the political drama surrounding the motion to deter him from his goal to impeach Dr Kidero.

“After what I have been through I was re-energized and I cannot withdraw from  a motion that is not even debatable because of a court order,  it is impossible, “said Mr Nyangwara.

According to the clerk of the assembly Jacob Ngwele, the impeachment motion cannot be withdrawn through a letter. It can only be withdrawn on the floor of the assembly and members vote for it.

Nairobi County speaker Alex Ole Magelo has also denied receiving a letter of withdrawal of the motion to impeach Governor Kidero.
