The Kenya Union of Journalists has said it will “speak to Football Kenya Federation” after a Nation Media Group journalist received a threatening phone call from an unknown caller.

The male caller claimed to hold brief for Football Kenya Federation.

Daily Nation’s sports writer Celestine Olilo has confirmed the anonymous caller repeatedly threatened her with unspecified action earlier this week after accusing her of “depicting FKF in bad light”.

She shared the deatils of the call on her official Twitter handle.

“That is not acceptable and we will make follows ups with FKF. If they say they dont know the person, then we will ask the authorities to investigate the matter,” KUJ secretary general Eric Oduor said.

Ms Olilo said she received the call earlier this past week. She is not familiar with the voice.

The caller refused to identify himself, but went on to complain that the journalist was depicting the national U-20 women’s team in bad light.

The caller hanged up, but the journalist received another call from a different line a few minutes later, with the person on the other end of the line now threatening her to “stop talking negatively” about the national teams or else “she wouldn’t like it.”

Ms Olilo’s woes are believed to be related to the structure of the U-20 national womens team which is preparing to meet Botswana in an World Cup qualifier in Lobatse on Friday. The composition of the team’s technical bench remains unknown.
