NIS officer loses firearm after being robbed near River Road


A National Intelligence Security (NIS) officer lost his firearm on Monday after he was robbed while walking in the city centre.

The officer was walking near the Accra Road – River Road junction when he was approached by two people seeking his help.

According to a police report, two men approached him and asked him for directions to World Vision Center. While he was directing them, a third person joined them and they grabbed the traveling bag that he was carrying.

Inside the bag was his pistol, serial number NSIS VHA472 with ten rounds of ammunition.

The case is under investigation.

In Kasarani, two people are nursing injuries after they were shot by robbers who had robbed an M-Pesa shop in Mwiki area on Tuesday evening.

According to the owner of the shop, two armed robbers gained entry through the back door and stole unknown amount of money.

They also took the CCTV cameras and several mobile phones.

The gang started shooting randomly as they escaped, injuring the shop’s attendant and a watchman.

The victims were taken to St Francis Community Hospital where they were admitted and are in stable condition.
