A night of song, dance and love for Jazz enthusiasts


As Valentine’s Day approaches, love is definitely in the air, and what better way to welcome the month of love than an evening listening to some smooth groovy Jazz music from some of the best local talent.

Alliance Francaise Gardens played host to “An evening of Afro-Jazz- Lovers Edition” on Friday evening.

The bands present were Kalahi, Prisca Ojwang, Halisi the Band, Le Band and the main act being Ricky na Marafiki. The event brought together jazz enthusiasts all dressed up and ready to enjoy the best of hits as they celebrated love and what it is all about.

Ricky Nanjero of Ricky na Marafiki Band kicked off his session with some acoustic jazz melodies all backed up with a full band. His hit Dufo Mpararo, which is a song about the stuff we all did as we were kids, was the most well received as the crowd all sang along and danced to it from start to finish.

As the all the bands wrapped up their acts, they all came up on stage to make one last performance to send off the crowd that were demanding for more. The evening was full of song and dance as the event ended on a high note.
