Ngunjiri Wambugu answers Uhuru on Maraga petition

Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has answered President Uhuru Kenyatta who asked him to withdraw his petition against Chief Justice David Maraga.

The MP said he would not pursue the petition for now, an indicator that he would defy the head of state in the long run.

The MP was under pressure from Jubilee Party since Thursday when he filed the petition at the Judicial Service Commission. He cited gross misconduct and abuse of office on the part of Justice Maraga.

However, the head of state seemed to have put the final nail on the coffin burying the petition when he met leaders from Central Kenya in Sagana on Friday.

“I understand your pain and action. But we have an election to win on Oct 17. That has to be our focus. Leave the court alone,” the President said. “All what we want is for the will of the people to prevail.” 8107
