Ngugi wa Thiong’o misses out on the Nobel Literature Prize, again

Kenyan writer Prof Ngugi wa Thiong’o has yet again missed out on the Nobel Prize in Literature.

The Swedish Academy on Thursday named American musician Bob Dylan as winner of this year’s prize.

The Academy cited the musician for “having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.”

Prof Ngugi wa Thiong’o was among the hotly-tipped names to take home this year’s Prize, together with Syrian poet Adonis.

Only four African authors have won the prestigious Nobel.
