Woman shot dead in M-Pesa shop robbery at Embakasi


Gangsters shot dead a woman before fleeing with unknown amount of money from an M-Pesa shop in Embakasi’s Pipeline estate on Tuesday.

During the incident, two smartly dressed thugs entered the shop and twice shot the operator, Dorcas Kilonzo, 21.

The victim, who was shot on the neck and waist, was rushed to Landress Medical Centre where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Police recovered two spent cartridges of 9mm at the scene of crime.

Elsewhere, a man survived an attack by armed gangsters who shot him twice in the head and shoulder on Tuesday night.

MOTIVE SHOOTING

The man, identified as Bernard Kaiya, was walking along Waiyaki Road near Kangemi flyover when he was accosted by unknown assailants who shot him.

The victim was rushed to MP Shah Hospital by good Samaritans for treatment where he is currently admitted. The motive of shooting was not immediately established.

In another incident, a 75 year old man who was a hawker in Nairobi’s Central Business District was found dead on Tuesday evening at Minao Building.

The man, identified as Jacton Mbatia, is said to have been unwell for the last two days and was on medication. His body was removed and taken to City Mortuary.
