Woman shot by gangsters, Zambian man found dead in Nairobi apartment


A 60-year-old woman was shot twice by a lone gunman who waylaid on her way back from work on Wednesday night at River Bank estate in South B.

According to the police, the woman was approaching her gate when she noticed her watchman was with someone else.

When she reached the gate the man stood and pointed a gun at her before ordering the two of them to lie down and went ahead to shoot her on the right hand and in the stomach.

The woman, who runs an M-Pesa shop, was also robbed of Sh100,000 in cash and a mobile phone but the watchman was not harmed.

BURGLARY

In Muthaiga North Forest view, a gang of ten burglars armed with crude weapons broke into a house and terrorized the family before stealing household valuables.

The gang stormed the house after gaining entry by cutting through the rear fence before forcing their way into the house.

After entering the house they ordered the all occupants to lie down before making away with three TV sets, four laptops, three mobile phones, motor vehicle car ignition keys, jewelries, five watches and cash of unknown amount.

Before they left they hit the owner of the house on the head with a blunt object injuring him slightly.

FOUND DEAD

Elsewhere, a Zambian national was found dead in his apartment in Nairobi just two days after arriving in the country.

Dr Elijah Mukhala was found lying in his bed on Tuesday night after he did not report to work. The supervisor of Riverline Apartments noticed that the deceased had not been seen after he checked in.

The supervisor’s suspicion was further heightened by the deceased’s failure to answer repeated phone calls.

Police later visited the scene and moved the body, which had no visible injuries, to Lee Funeral Home.

The deceased worked as a representative of World Meteorological Organization in Eastern and Southern Africa. According to the police, he arrived in Kenya on Sunday and was due to report to work on Monday.
