Drama as woman locks herself inside car to avoid alcohol test
A woman on Wednesday night locked herself inside her car for several hours to avoid an alcohol test by National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) agents.
When stopped to be tested the woman refused to alight from her vehicle prompting the police to tow her car to Kilimani Police Station while she was seated inside comfortably.
In order to prevent the woman from driving away, the officers deflated three of her tyres and booked under OB no. 4/5/7/24/3/2016.
A source who is not allowed to talk to the press told Nairobi News on the phone: “The woman later agreed to open the car doors and is at the moment in a Nairobi court waiting to be charged.”
However, he did not specify what charges the woman will face.

Earlier, the National Police Service through its official Twitter handle had an exchange with a concerned citizen one Njihia Kelvin who wanted to know if the police have a right to enter one’s vehicle without permission.

Which prompted a response from the Police quoting Part XII – General 105 (1 ) of the traffic act which in part reads:
“It shall be lawful to any police officer in uniform to stop any vehicle, and for any police officer, licensing officer, inspector to (a) to enter any vehicle (b) to drive any vehicle or cause any vehicle to be driven.”
NTSA were last week given 45 vehicles by Treasury to cater for their transport needs. The vehicles are being used for mobile alcoblow patrols.
NTSA has been seeking ways to outsmart some Kenyans who have started alcoblow watch groups on mobile messengers such as WhatsApp and Instagram.
