The body of a 29 year-old woman was on Thursday found in her apartment in Kilimani Estate, with her throat slit and her hands tied.

Family members called detectives to Luciane Apartments, on Kitale Lane off Denis Pritt Road, after they found the body of Monica Kimani dumped in a bathtub and the water still running.

The alarmed relatives had broken into the apartment after Monica failed to pick phone calls.

“I came to check on her since my mother had called and she wasn’t picking. I sent her a message but she never replied yet we were to meet, since,” said a relative.

The relatives told detectives that Monica had recently bought a house in Ruaka but moved to her current address three months ago because she wanted to live near town. She used to live alone.

The deceased is said to have last been seen on Wednesday night in the company of her two friends.

The relatives say Monica had recently returned from South Sudan where she runs a family business.

She was scheduled to travel to Dubai for vacation on the day her body was found in the apartment.
