By JOSEPH OPENDA October 13th, 2017 1 min read

A 75-year-old man accused of attempting to defile his granddaughter told the High Court in Nakuru on Friday that his wife had denied him sex for eight years.

The man told the judge that he thought the 11-year-old girl was his wife.

“My wife had denied me sex for more than eight years so I decided to lure her  to my room,” he told the court.

“I asked her to bring food to my room. However, she sent our grand daughter instead and I mistook her for my wife.”

The man denied the attempted defilement charge.

INDECENT ACT

The prosecution said he committed the crime on September 24 at Solai village in Subukia Sub-County.

He also denied the alternative count of committing an indecent act with a child.

According to the prosecution, the elderly man was found by his wife attempting to rape his granddaughter.

The court was told that the woman’s screams attracted neighbours.

The neighbours arrived at the homestead almost immediately and beat up the old man before frogmarching him to Solai police station.

The accused was granted a  Sh200,000 bond. The case will be heard on November 6.
