Man’s wedding plans ruined by bank’s closure

A man’s grand plans for a wedding has been put in jeopardy by the closure of Chase Bank on Thursday.

Mr Benedict Maneno, a resident of Mombasa, says he had deposited all his savings for the upcoming event scheduled for the end of the month.

But now he is in a fix following the bank’s placement under receivership by the Central Bank of Kenya.

“I have about Sh200,000 in the bank but I am now stranded because I cannot access my account. I cannot express how I feel; I don’t know what I will tell my committee members,” he said.

UNDER RECEIVERSHIP

According to Mr Maneno, on Thursday he went to withdraw some of the money in preparation for the wedding only to find out the bank was in receivership.

“I was meant to have a small celebration on Saturday (today) ahead of the upcoming wedding, but now I have no idea what I’m going to do,” he said.

All he wants is for the Central Bank of Kenya to allow him and other depositors to withdraw some money so that they can be able to do what they had planned to do.

Mr Maneno is not the only one affected by the bank’s placement under receivership as hundreds of Kenyans are wondering how they will get their money from the bank.
