Weatherman forecasts continued rainfall across country

The Kenya Meteorological Services has forecast continued, albeit reduced, rainfall in several parts of the country over the coming days.

According to the department, within the next three days, heavy showers are likely to continue in northern part of the country, along the Coast of the country, central highlands and around the highlands along the Rift Valley as well as in the Lake Victoria Basin region.

“Heavy showers may occur in parts of the Northwest, the Northeast, the Coast, the Lake Victoria Basin, Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Central and South Rift Valley, and the Central Highlands (including Nairobi) at the beginning of the forecast period,” said Mr Peter Ambenje, Kenya Meteorological Services director.

The aforementioned regions have received enhanced rainfall in the past week leading to loss of lives and properties worth millions of shillings.

In some places, road networks and infrastructure have been cut off as a result.

According to the latest five-day weather forecast covering April 14 to 18, the counties of Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay and Migori will continue receiving rainfall in the morning giving way to showers and thunderstorms over several places in the afternoon for the next three days.

This will affect Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka Nithi where the temperatures will be as low as 8 degrees Celsius.
