Virgin Mary’s image ‘appears’ on a rock in Makueni
Thousands of Christians are flocking Manooni Dam in Mbitini, Makueni County where locals say the image of Mary the mother of Jesus has appeared on a rock’s face.
Nairobi News has learnt that rumours of the incident began on Monday and gained credence after vernacular radio stations aired the story.
“People are abandoning their motorbikes and cars at some point and trekking several kilometres to ‘see’ the face,” Nairobi News correspondent Pius Maundu said on phone.
MIRACULOUS BIRTH
Mary, according to the New Testament in the Bible, is also known as Saint Mary or the Virgin Mary, was a Galilean woman of Nazareth who conceived and gave birth to Jesus.
Christians are taught that she conceived miraculously through the Holy Spirit and gave birth to a baby boy, Jesus Christ. Christians believe that Jesus is the son of God and their savior.
Manooni dam is a water reservoir within the Makueni County that supplies the lower parts of the area.
