Veteran editors set to leave NMG in fresh reshuffle

Veteran editors Macharia Gaitho and Jaindi Kisero have opted for early retirement in sweeping changes at Nation Media Group.

Mr Gaitho and Mr Kisero will however retain their weekly columns on the Daily Nation newspaper and will also serve as editorial consultants for the newspaper.

“I wish to announce the retirement of Jaindi Kisero and Macharia Gaitho at the end of August 2015 after a committed and distinguished service to the Nation Media Group. Both Jaindi and Macharia requested to retire early and we have reluctantly accepted their requests,” a communication from Editor-in-Chief Tom Mshindi said on Friday

“Both of them have accepted my request to continue writing their columns and also serve the company as key consultant resources whenever required.”

In the changes, Saturday Nation managing editor Dennis Galava has been appointed Managing Editor, Special Projects and Investigations.

Tim Wanyonyi has been confirmed to the position of Managing Editor, Saturday Nation.

John Kamau of the Business Daily team has been transferred to the Special Projects desk as a Senior Writer, while Patrick Nzioka, currently the Assignment Editor, has also been transferred to the Special Projects desk as a Senior Writer.

Group Training Editor John Agunda has been re-designated as Revise Editor, while Catherine Wanyama, the Daily Nation Revise Editor, has been transferred to the Business Daily to replace John Kamau.
