UoN students beaten, frog marched and arrested by police – VIDEO

By HILARY KIMUYU September 29th, 2017 1 min read

A shocking video has surfaced capturing anti-police officers assaulting University of Nairobi students at their halls of residence, moments after they had protested the arrest of Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili.

The video clip shows policemen assaulting the students using batons, whips and kicks. Some of the students had already been subjugated and were lying on the ground.

The students had on Thursday blocked roads in daylong demonstrations against the re-arrest of the young MP, popularly known as Babu Owino, who was a former student leader at the institution.

In the video, the students could be heard chanting “No Babu, no learning.”

The protesting students had engaged anti-riot police in running battles since morning.

Traffic was adversely affected on State House Road as police sought to restrict the students inside the institution.

The students are reported to have barricaded the road and hurled stones at motorists
