Uhuru slams critics of handshake deal with Raila
A visibly angry President Uhuru Kenyatta has hit out at those criticizing his move to work with opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking on Wednesday at the Jacaranda grounds in Nairobi from where he issued thousands of title deeds to area residents, the Head of State also told Nairobi governor Mike Sonko to his face that he wasn’t scared of him.
Earlier on at the same function, Sonko had cheekily asked the President not ‘to be scared’ by his decision to appoint controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna as his Deputy.
Not done, President Kenyatta also put corrupt public servants on notice.
“Those who will play around with public funds, your days are numbered. All the looted funds will be repossessed and used to contract roads even as you spend time in jail,” said Kenyatta

“Sonko is asking me not to be scared. I want to tell him and I want to tell you all, nobody can scare me. Don’t mistake respect for being scared.”
Regarding his pact with Mr Odinga, Kenyatta said: “People are criticizing me for my decision to talk to Raila. Raila is a Kenyan and I have a right to talk to everyone who is development minded. We don’t want to divide the country anymore. People can make noise but I will try as much to unite Kenyans.”
This is the second time the President is publicly commenting on his new found bromance with Raila Odinga.
During multiparty democracy champion Kenneth Matiba’s funeral last month, Kenyatta said he was ‘aware’ that many people within his Jubilee party are not happy with the unity deal with the opposition chief.
