President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday splashed a combined Sh10 million to buy goats at the Kimalel goat auction and cultural fair in Baringo County.

The DP, who is no stranger at goat auctions, out spend his boss by forking out Sh6 million while President Kenyatta spent Sh4 million during the event where at least 2,500 goats were sold.

Each goat was being auctioned for between Sh10,000 to Sh12,000, meaning the DP bought between 500 to 600 goats while the President bought between 300 to 400.

During the auction, a total of Sh25 million exchanged hands in an event which brought together various leaders from the county and the country, at large.

This is not the first time Ruto is splashing money to buy goats. In September, he carried Sh10 million in a backpack which he used to buy 1,400 goats at an auction in Kajiado county. Out of the 10 million, the DP said Sh5 million was from the president.

In another auction in 2017, Dr Ruto spent Sh12 million for 1,000 goats at the same event.
