Uhuru forgives Kisii MCA who called him a bhang smoker

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday hugged and forgave Kisii County MCA Samuel Aboko who described him as a bhang smoker at a public rally three years ago.

Director of Digital Communications at State House Dennis Itumbi said the President told the MCA, : “I forgive you,” adding, “Let bygones, be bygones.”

“The President advised him to desist from politics of hurling insults before they warmly hugged and embraced each other,” Nyamira County Speaker Joash Nyamoko who witnessed the happenings told Nairobi News.

The Kiogora MCA and the President met face to face on Thursday for the first time during a meeting at State House in which the President and his Deputy William Ruto met elected and nominated MCAs from Nyamira and Kisii Counties.

The Kiogoro MCA had alleged that the President’s leadership was intoxicated due to his regular bhang smoking habits.

He had made the remarks at a public rally held on August 28, 2013, at Kerera location in Kisii County.

“Those close to President Uhuru Kenyatta should advise him to stop smoking bhang,” the MCA had said.

In April 2014, he was charged in court for undermining the President in public contrary to Section 132 of the Penal Code. The court case is still ongoing.

During the meeting, the President promised the establishment of a University in Nyamira, establishment of two teaching colleges within the County, Sh380 million for infrastructural development at Keroka Sub-County Hospital and to elevate the status of Nyamira Level Four Hospital.

“ He also promised to consider our community in senior employment opportunities and said that a Task force he formed on the coffee sector will consider the scraping of debts that coffee farmers owe the government so as to revive the sector,” Mr Nyamoko said.

The meeting was attended by 87 MCAs, 58 of them from Kisii while 29 were from Nyamira county.
