Top Nairobi student wants to be a lawyer

A Nairobi student is slowly coming to terms with his stellar academic performance in the 2014 KCSE examinations whose results were released on Tuesday.

The former Moi Forces Academy student could not hide his joy when he received a message that he had scored a mean grade of A with 84 points.

Duncan Karuru, 18, told Nairobi News that he had kept an open mind while awaiting his results.

“I had put my mind to scoring an A minus since I had prepared well for the exams with the help of my teachers and group work with my classmates,” he said.

He added that after receiving the results, he shared the text message with his family and friends.

“I was actually attending a lecture at KCA University so it is after the class that I checked my results and was excited,” said Duncan.

The teenager enrolled for a Certified Securities and Investment Analysis (CSIA) course at the university in January this year in preparation for the Law degree he wants to pursue at the University of Nairobi.

Born in a family of three, Duncan was not among the top performers in primary as he scored 377 marks in the 2010 KCPE.

It was an admission to a top national school that made him work hard in high school becoming a top student from form one to form four.

The second-born son of civil servant parents now wants to concentrate on his certificate course as he awaits university admission.
