The underwear ‘curse’: Adamant Governor refuses to ‘cleanse’ himself

April 2nd, 2019 1 min read

Tharaka-Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has dismissed calls by a section of the Ameru Njuri Ncheke Council of Elders that he offers a bull for sacrifice to ‘cleanse him and county government offices of a curse’.

Last month, hundreds of women from Chuka/Igambang’ombe, Maara and Tharaka constituencies stormed the governor’s office in Kathwana, and dumped their underwears at the gate over what they termed gross disrespect of the women by the county chief.

Speaking on Monday at WERU PCEA church in Chuka/Igambang’ombe, Mr Njuki said the elders and the women were being used by his political rivals to intimidate him and disrupt his work.

But Njuri Ncheke County chapter chairman, Kangori M’Thaara, insists that if not cleansed, Mr Njuki’s government was likely to face a lot of misfortunes.
