The day Victor Wanyama spent Sh22 million in six hours
Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama recently spent millions of shillings within just hours during a visit to the country.
Having been away from home for eight weeks since leading the Harambee Stars to loss to Lesotho in August 2014, Wanyama landed in Kenya on the morning of October 9 2014, to honour a call up to the national team for an international  friendly match against Morocco in Rabat.
But before joining up with his teammates and new coach Bobby Williamson, who were at the time training at the Safaricom Stadium, Kasarani, the Southampton midfielder took a day off to relax, shake off the jet lag and meet his close family members and friends.
SHOPPING SPREE
However in less than an hour’s time after his arrival, Wanyama embarked on a shopping spree during which he spent a jaw-dropping Sh 22 million in just six hours!
First, the player drove into a car bazaar along Ngong Road and purchased two Lexus SUV’s – grey and black in colour – for an estimated Sh. 6 million for his siblings.
This purchase, according to sources, was to celebrate his first ever goal with the Saints in the English Premier League, a feat he achieved in the team’s solitary goal win over Swansea in a league match.
Having made what many of his colleagues on the local front would require years to invest, one would have imagined that the former Celtic man would have headed home to relax in anticipation of the upcoming assignment. But Big Vic was just getting started.
KILELESHWA HOUSE
Wanyama’s next stop was a bank in downtown Nairobi where he made a down payment for a house he is purchasing in Kileleshwa.
The house is believed to be worth around sh. 20 million and the player, who has since moved in at the place, is expected to complete the payments by the turn of 2015.
Done with his spending, at least for the day, Wanyama then headed home ready to do national duty.
