Tecno launches Phantom 8 in Dubai – PHOTOS

Tecno Mobile has launched the Phantom 8 series in Dubai.

Tecno decided to skip the Phantom 7 to keep pace with the likes of Samsung and Apple who have already launched their flagships – Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy Note 8, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.

The  Phantom 8 was launched at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai, on Sunday night.

It is a highly specked smartphone boasting 6GB RAM and 64GB of storage space. The Android-operated Phantom 8 is customised and is targeted at the upper middle class.

Speaking to Nairobi News, Tecno General Manager Stephene Ha said they hoped that this phone captures every moment for the users.

BEST EXPERIENCE

“We offer the best experience in photography. We are the representatives of camera phone.”

The company continues to grow its market share across Africa which is one of its largest alongside India and the Middle East where it ventured into last year.

The Chinese mobile manufacturing company also seeks to sail through the European market through Dubai.

Arif Chowdhury, Vice President Transsion Holdings, was optimistic with what they have achieved in the Middle East in the past one year terming it significant.

“We are dedicated to provide the best experience of its devices for consumers. Our strategy is think globally but act locally. We believe there are strong brands in the world but we bring more value to the consumers and that’s what is important,” he said.

According to Chowdhury, Tecno wants to be the leader of the emerging markets.

“Definitely we have to bring affordability. Quality and stability has to be put into consideration for the affordable devices of the consumers. Quality has nothing to do with the pricing.”

RAISED THE BAR

The Tecno Phantom 8 has raised the bar in design innovation and form factor compared to previous devices from the brand. Adorning the back of the device is a 3D diamond lighting design which is premium looking.

The body of the phone is made of entire metal with rounded Edges. At the front, you have a 2.5D glass coating giving the device a premium feel and easy to hold in the hands. It is slimmer and lighter compared to what was obtained on the Phantom 6 Plus.

The device comes with a massive 20MP front camera which is assisted with a dual LED flash system and it sports a dual back camera consisting of 12MP and 13MP configuration.

The Phantom 8 packs 3500mAh of battery juice with a Quick charging system which was excellent if you ask me considering how slim the device is.

Kenya will be among the first countries in Africa to retail Phantom 8 when they are launched in the market next week and is expected to cost Sh40,000.
