End of the road for suspected gangsters in Kikuyu area

Two suspected robbers who had robbed woman were killed on Saturday morning in Kikuyu area.

One of the robbers was lynched by angry mob while the other one was gunned down by the police at Ndumbo-ini in Kikuyu.

After robbing the woman, the two suspects are said to have taken off towards city center on a motorcycle.

At Gitaru area they were confronted by the public and during the commotion they got involved in an accident with a Probox.

One of the suspect was injured and the public pounced on him and lynched him on the spot while his accomplice escaped.

According to Kikuyu OCPD Musa Kongeli the armed suspect who was fleeing commandeered another motorcycle and later hijacked a Public Service Vehicle in a bid to escape.

“The driver of the matatu attempted to speed towards Kinoo Police Station but the suspect threatened to shoot him,” said Mr Kongeli.

But on reaching Ndumbo-ini market, a shootout ensued between the suspect and police officers when the matatu hit a bump  and lost control.

The suspect then tried to flee on foot while engaging the police in a gun battle but he was fatally shot.

A pistol, seven rounds of ammunition, stolen mobile phones and handcuffs were recovered from the slain suspect.
