State bans sharing of videos of women being stripped
The government has banned the sharing of photos and videos of women being stripped in public through social media sites.
Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru on Friday said perpetrators of the violations, along with those who post the heinous violations on social media, will be arrested and prosecuted.
“I urge all those having photos and videos not to post them on social media but instead give them to police as evidence,” she said.

Ms Waiguru further urged matatu owners to work with the police to hand over crew members identified to have perpetrated any violations for prosecution.
“Where a violation is carried out within a matatu, the driver has a responsibility of driving the matatu to the nearest police station,” she added.
Ms Waiguru made the remarks at a press briefing at Harambee House after hosting a joint meeting of government officials and transport stakeholders.
The meeting was attended by Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko, Deputy Inspector General Grace Kaindi, CID Director Ndegwa Muhoro, NYS Director General Nelson Githingi, Maendeleo ya Wanawake Chairperson Rahab Mwikali and Albert Karakucha of Matatu Owners Association.

Deputy Inspector General Ms Kaindi urged all women who have been assaulted or stripped to report to the police and give a detailed statement to ensure the perpetrators are arrested.
Maendeleo ya Wanawake’s Rahab called on parents to ensure such acts do not go unpunished and bring up the boy child within the moral values.
“Maendeleo will bring in all our networks from across the country with the wards to ensure gender violence stops,” she said.
All the leaders in the meeting resolved to set up prevention and response mechanisms to ensure protection of women and girls.
