Sonko building 17 swimming pools amid water rationing; Nairobians go ham

Revelations by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko that he has started building stadia and swimming pools across Nairobi have been greeted by anger.

The governor shocked city residents on Tuesday by sharing photos of ongoing construction of swimming pools and sports fields in every constituency.

Nairobians could have none of it and angrily questioned why the governor was building swimming pools while the city is experiencing perennial water rationing.

Water rationing has persisted in Nairobi despite the ongoing rains. The governor last week increased the number of days Nairobi estates receive tap water after water levels at Ndakaini dam rose significantly. But there are still some estates that go without water for four days in a week.

Nairobians online criticised the governor’s project as misplaced priorities.
