Shock as Chinese student emerges second best in Tanzanian exams


A Chinese student emerged second best in the Tanzanian Form 4 national examination results.

The results were announced by the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (Necta) in Dar es Salaam on Thursday.

Butogwa Shija, a 17-year-old girl, from Canosa Girls Secondary School in Dar es Salaam got the the highest scores in the O-Levels exams done in November last year.

Congcong Wang, 16, a Chinese national who did her O-Level studies at Feza Girls Secondary School in Konondoni District, emerged the first runner-up.

Emerging the second in the whole of the East African nation came as a big surprise to her.

“I had never imagined that I can attain this top position. I have always worked hard but this outcome is far beyond my expectation,” said Wang.

Wang is from Changchun City in Jilin Province in China.

She had already enrolled for the Cambridge High School Certificate at Feza International in Dar es Salaam by the results came out.

Innocent Nyakabunda, 20, who completed his O-Level studies at Feza Boys Secondary School, was third.
