Safaricom spreads the joy, pays fares for commuters across the country – PHOTOS

Kenyans on Thursday morning woke up to an early Christmas surprise after Safaricom offered to pay fares for morning commuters across the country.

From Kisumu to Mombasa, it was all smiles as the telcom spread the Christmas cheer to everyone. Commuters in trains were not left behind either.

At Nairobi’s Kencom terminal, Safaricom chief executive Bob Collymore became a matatu tout for the better part of the morning.

He called out for commuters and also paid fares in one of the buses.

Speaking to Nairobi News, Mr Collymore said the campaign was part of their effort to give back to the society in a promotion dubbed ‘Home is where the heart is’.

“It’s part of our desire to give back over the holidays in celebrating 16 years of operating in Kenya,” he added.

The campaign, which will run for 16 days, has seen Safaricom award commuters, visit children’s homes, gift Kenyan security forces and will be visiting medical camps this coming weekend.

Subscribers have also been getting free airtime and data and they can also win selected gadgets at various outlets across Kenya.
