RVR to increase trains to counter matatu strike

The Rift Valley Railways (RVR) will run extra commuter trains beginning Wednesday evening to cushion city commuters from the matatu strike.

The company, in a statement, said it will add a commuter train to the Embakassi, Kahawa and Dagoretti routes respectively.

Service on all other routes will run as usual.

The trains to Embakasi will depart at 5pm and 6.30 pm respectively.

Trains to Kahawa  will depart at 4pm and 6.40pm respectively, while the extra train terminating at Dagoretti will depart at 4pm.

Matatu operators blocked major roads in the city on Wednesday morning to protest increased parking fees.
