Deputy President William Ruto has let out the ‘secret’ on why he is a frequent visitor to Kakamega County, and it has everything to do with matters of the heart.
The DP, who was the guest speaker at the 5th Annual Devolution Conference in Kakamega, told the crowd that he got his wife Rachel in Kakamega.
“Oparanya says I come to Kakamega often. It’s true. I got my better half from here,” he said on Thursday at the conference’s closing ceremony at Kakamega High School.
The DP justified his love affair with Kakamega saying that when someone finds his spouse in a certain place he obviously holds fond memories and feelings about the place.
“Like the Bible says, he who finds a wife finds a good thing,” Ruto said.
The DP also revealed that his wife Rachel attended Likuyani Primary and Butere Girls’ High Schools in Kakamega town, which is 30 minutes away from his home by road.
“When I came to pay dowry, I went to Likuyani. Those looking for a reason as to why I hang around here often… you now know why,” he said.
