Rogue city cop shot dead by colleague after shooting a civilian


A rogue policeman was on Tuesday evening shot dead by a colleague in Embakasi after he had shot and injured a civilian.

The plain-cloth officer, identified as Philip Mgandi Kalinga, was with an accomplice when he shot a civilian on his right hand before attempting to escape to the nearby Mukuru kwa Njenga slums.

He was pursued by police on patrol who shot and killed him on the spot, while the accomplice died as he received treatment at Embakasi Medical Centre.

The civilian victim was rushed to Mater Hospital and is in stable condition.

The motive of the shooting has not been established. Three bullets heads and two spent cartridges were recovered at the scene of the shooting.

The bodies were taken to Kenyatta University mortuary awaiting postmortem.
