Rioting UoN students disrupt traffic on Ngong Road
University of Nairobi Kenya Science campus students on Monday blocked Ngong road to protest against relocation of the campus to make way for the Kenya Technical Trainers College (KTTC).
Nairobi county commander Japheth Koome said the police are dispersing the students so as to reopen the road.
The protesting students blocked the road near The Junction Mall forcing motorists to use alternative roads.
No cars were allowed to use the stretch near the mall with motorists on both sides being turned away.
RELOCATION
The students were protesting looming relocation as directed by the education cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i who in a letter dated September 9 to the university’s council, directed Chairman Idle Farah to surrender the facility to KTTC by December 1 (Thursday).
Students leaders also opposed the move.

The Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ) last month asked the Education Ministry to suspend the relocation of KTTC from Gigiri to Kenya Science campus.
Traffic build up along Ngong road on Monday disrupted normal operations and users took to Twitter to lament.
