Slight reprieve as new fuel prices are released

Kenyan motorists have a reason to smile after the price of petrol reduced by Sh1.01.

However, the story was different for diesel users after the price went up by Sh1.39 in the latest review.

In this month’s fuel prices review by the Energy Regulatory Commission, a litre of petrol will retail at Sh96.08 and diesel at Sh85.86 in Nairobi.

Households that rely on Kerosene will also see a Sh0.86 increase in prices as a litre will now retail at Sh63.42 in Nairobi.

The new price review takes into account the weighted average cost of imported refined petroleum products.

The July price review saw a drop in price on petrol, diesel and kerosene but in August, only petrol has seen a slight decrease in price as diesel and kerosene project a slight increase.
