‘Rape and kill’ woman in fresh charges of issuing death threats to DCI Kinoti

The 34-year-old woman under investigations for allegedly threatening to rape and kill Canadian ambassador to Kenya is in more trouble after allegedly issuing death threats to the Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti.

Tracy Wairimu Ndegwa is accused of threatening to kill Kinoti on August 6, shortly after she was released to go for mental assessment at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters along Kiambu road.

LETTERS TO KINOTI

Wairimu was to be charged with the offences after she was arrested on Friday but the plea taking coincided with her appointment with Mathari Mental Hospital where she was to for the mental examination.

The anti-terror police unit had prepared charges against her but her lawyer Steve Ogola sought a deferral to allow a determination on whether she is fit to stand trial.

The woman is said to have sent Kinoti letters containing a white powder and alleged he would die after inhaling the said powder.

State counsel Angela Odhiambo opposed bail and bond terms of Wairimu, saying the accused has kept committing the same offences each time she has been released on bond terms.

THREATS TO ENVOY

Wairimu had been charged with similar offences before Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku of Milimani Law Courts and freed on bond before she went on to issue the same threats to Canadian envoy Lisa Stadelbauer.

She was to be charged with threatening to kill Stadelbauer last week but the same was postponed until August 24, 2020 to allow her mental assessment and she was released on Sh50,000 bond after which she allegedly threatened to kill Kinoti.

Ogola told the court that the suspect is an outpatient at Mathari but the prosecution said the lawyer has been making similar claims without furnishing courts with any documents to prove the same.

Senior Resident Magistrate Charles Mwaniki of the Kibera Law Courts granted the accused a Sh100,000 bond to honour her appointment with the mental hospital.

The accused will be arraigned in court on August 24, 2020 to take plea in both cases of threatening to kill Kinoti and Stadelbauer.
