Raila wishes injured Citizen TV journalists quick recovery

Nasa flagbearer Raila Odinga has sent a get-well message to Citizen TV journalists who were injured while on their way to cover an Opposition rally in Baringo county.

In a statement, Mr Odinga termed the Royal Media Services employees as the finest journalists and prayed for their recovery.

The three journalists were slightly injured when the light aircraft carrying them crashed at Langata.

The pilot and co-pilot were however seriously injured.

“Mr. Mauritius Oduor, Sam Ogina from Citizen TV and Joseph Njane from Radio Citizen, who are some of the finest reporters in the country, were on their way to cover the NASA rallies in Baringo when their crashed.

SACRIFICES

“This tragedy reminds us of the sacrifices journalists face daily in their quest to keep our citizens informed, an effort we sometimes take for granted until an incident like today’s happens,” wrote Mr Odinga.

The opposition had scheduled rallies in Tiaty, Kabarnet and Eldama Ravine where the journalists were heading for coverage.

“We thank God for their saved lives and we assure the reporters, the Kenyan media fraternity and the Royal Media family in particular that our thoughts and prayers are with them. It is my hope and prayer that we will see Oduor, Ogina and Njane back on the campaign trail before Election Day,” wrote Mr Odinga.
