Raila: Jubilee planning to assassinate Joho

By ELISHA OTIENO January 19th, 2017 2 min read

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has sensationally claimed that there is a plot to assassinate Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho because of his firm stand against Jubilee administration.

Speaking at Isebania town in Migori County on Thursday, Mr Odinga said the people who murdered controversial businessman Jacob Juma were now planning to eliminate Mr Joho as well.

Without giving any further details, he dared those planning so to go ahead warning of dire consequences.

“People who killed businessman Jacob Juma now want to eliminate Mr Joho because of his political stand… let them try,” he said.

VERBAL EXCHANGE

Mr Joho has been at loggerheads with the government since he engaged President Uhuru Kenyatta in a verbal exchange during his tour of the region.

His security was withdrawn and he consequently rejected security officials who later deployed to his home. Mr Joho has since said he would not beg for the government’s security as he would be protected by his supporters.

Mr Odinga said time was ripe for the “elderly and experienced politicians to take power from the immature young leaders”.

“We are determined to send home the Jubilee administration this year. We cannot afford another day of corruption and bad governance after the August General Election,” he asserted.

TYRANNY OF NUMBERS

He called for unity between the Luo and the Kuria saying “I did not get any vote in Gatundu (home ground of President Kenyatta), you should not vote for him this year.”

The former Prime Minister said the National Super Alliance (Nasa) was now enjoying a massive tyranny of numbers.

“All the Kenyan communities are in Nasa. Jubilee will be defeated by a wide margin this year,” he stated.

“Nasa is like River Nile, it will sweep all the Jubilee leaders so long as you register in large numbers. Make sure your neighbour is registered as a voter,” he told his audience.
