Raila ‘insults’ return to haunt Isaac Mwaura after Ruiru loss

Nominated legislator Isaac Mwaura on Wednesday faced taunts from a section of Kenyans on social media, after his failed bid to capture the Jubilee Party ticket for the Ruiru parliamentary seat.

Mwaura had earlier diplomatically conceded defeat following a loss to Simon King’ara.

The legislator wrote on his Facebook page: “I wish him (King’ara) well in serving the people of Ruiru and wish to assure him of my full support in exercising his mandate, for leadership almost invariably, has capacity to transform society.”

A section of Kenyans were, however, not in forgiving mood.

Some ridiculed the legislator for forsaking the party (read ODM) that nominated him to Parliament.

Mwaura had earlier this year controversially quit ODM for Jubilee Party, in a move that caused tension between himself and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

He often took on the Cord leader in the ensuing months.

“My nomination to Parliament was well deserved, and even when Raila wanted me removed from the party list, Anyang Nyongo, Janet Ongera, Jakoyo Midiwo and Henry Kosgey are the ones I could credit for defending me,” Mwaura once wrote.

At the same time, others made fun of Mwaura who claimed to have been shot at in campaign-related violence.
